Core strength is essential for all developmental skills. A weak core can render everyday tasks difficult for children, including sitting on a chair, holding a pencil, tying shoes, and playing in the playground.

Signs of a weak core can include:

  • Slumped or slouched posture

  • Resting arms on a table and holding the head up with hands

  • Difficulty sitting still and frequently shifting position

  • “W-sitting”

Do these 5 exercises with your child to help them increase their core strength and success in their daily activities:

  1. Crab Walk

  2. Floor activities while lying on the belly

  3. Bridges

  4. Planking

  5. Table Pose
